Hand Actions
Hit, Stand, Double Down, Split, and Insurance. When and how each action and decision point works.
During the Player Turn, action buttons appear based on your hand and the active rule set. Here's what each action does and when it's available.
Insurance
Insurance is a side bet, not a standard hand action. It is offered after the deal, before your turn begins, whenever the dealer's face-up card is an Ace.
- Cost: Half your original bet, placed as a separate side wager
- Resolves immediately: The dealer checks for blackjack. If the hole card is a 10-value, insurance pays 2:1. Otherwise, you lose the side bet and play continues normally.
- Toggle: Insurance is off by default and must be enabled in Settings
- Table availability: Insurance is available at Jean-Luc, Czarita, and Jack's tables. At Lady Lux and Aunty, insurance is disabled regardless of your Settings toggle.
See Insurance for the full payout breakdown and strategy considerations. See Dealer Tables for availability at each table.
Pre-Turn Decision
Insurance appears before the Player Turn starts, so it does not compete with Hit, Stand, Double Down, or Split. It is included here because it is a player decision that occurs during the round.
Hit
Draw one card from the shoe.
- Available whenever your hand total is under 21
- If your hand busts (exceeds 21), the round settles immediately as a loss
- If your hand reaches exactly 21, you auto-stand and the dealer plays
- During a split round, busting or reaching 21 auto-advances to the next hand
Stand
Lock in your current hand total and end your turn.
- In a split round, standing advances play to your next hand
- On your final (or only) hand, standing triggers the dealer's turn
Double Down
Double your bet, receive exactly one more card, then auto-stand.
This is an aggressive move. You're committing to a single card with twice the money on the line.
When available:
- Only on your first two cards (before hitting)
- Your bankroll must cover the additional bet
- Subject to the active double restriction rule (varies by dealer table):
- Any two cards: double on any hand total (Jean-Luc, Czarita)
- 9-11 only: double only when your total is 9, 10, or 11 (Jack)
- 10-11 only: double only when your total is 10 or 11 (Lady Lux, Aunty)
- Double After Split is allowed at Jean-Luc, Czarita, and Jack's tables. At Lady Lux and Aunty, you cannot double after splitting.
- Not allowed on split aces
Bankroll Check
Doubling requires enough chips in your bankroll to match the original bet. If you can't cover it, the Double button won't appear.
Split
Split a pair into two independent hands, each with its own bet.
Splitting is available when your first two cards share the same rank (e.g., two 8s, or K-J since both count as 10). Each hand receives one additional card and plays in sequence: Hand 1 first, then Hand 2, and so on.
Key rules:
- A second bet equal to your original wager is deducted from your bankroll
- You can re-split if another matching pair appears, up to 4 total hands
- Each split hand settles independently against the dealer
Multi-hand results are displayed per hand when results are mixed:
H1: Win | H2: Lose | H3: Push
Split Aces
Aces follow special rules when split:
- Each ace receives exactly one card, then auto-stands
- You cannot hit or double on split aces
- An ace + 10-value card after splitting counts as regular 21, not blackjack (pays 1:1 instead of 3:2)
- Re-splitting aces is disabled
Action Availability Summary
| Action | When Available |
|---|---|
| Hit | Hand total < 21, not a split-ace hand |
| Stand | Always during Player Turn |
| Double Down | First two cards, bankroll covers it, within double restriction |
| Split | First two cards are a pair, bankroll covers second bet |
Table-Dependent Rules
Several actions change or become unavailable as you move to higher dealer tables. Double down restrictions tighten, Double After Split is removed, and insurance becomes unavailable. Check the Dealer Tables page for a full side-by-side comparison.
Related Features
Several features interact directly with hand actions during gameplay:
- Auto Hint: Displays a recommendation (Hit, Stand, Double Down, or Split) during your turn. Hints default to on at Jean-Luc, Czarita, and Jack (toggleable in Settings), and are unavailable at Lady Lux and Aunty.
- Haptic Feedback: Provides a vibration tap when you select an action.
- Insurance: A side bet offered before your turn when the dealer shows an Ace.
- Statistics: Tracks action-specific outcomes including bust rate and blackjack rate.
